A few months ago, I read that a film called ‘Given’ was going to be shown at the Stadtkino in Vienna and after watching the trailer I knew I knew I had to see it.

The film is told from the point of view of Given Goodwin, the son of two surfers, and tells the story of the family’s trip through fifteen different countries “in the quest for surf and to fulfill a calling handed down through generations.” (Quote taken from the Given: The Movie website)

This beautiful film truly shows no child is born with any hatred for anyone of another cutlure, gender, reglion or race. Watching this little boy play happily with other children, not caring about the colour of their skin, their different beliefs or the fact that they don’t even speak the same language was so uplifting. With all the crap and hatred going on in the world right now, I think there are a few people that could learn a few things by watching this wonderful film.

PLUS! The work of the incredible film makers and crew under the direction of Jess Bianchi, beautifully highlights the fifteen different countries the family visit wonderfully and will make any travel lover want to hop on the next plane to each and every one of them (or indeed recreate their trip.)

I 100% recommend this film to any travel lover, surf fanatic or parent who dreams of an education like no other for their children.

UPDATE: Given: The Movie will be coming to Netflix July 1st!

“In your first years of life, you take in everything around you.

This was going to be our time to learn.”

See the world through a child’s eyes.
